Drawing inspiration from the iconic Joe Henderson jazz standard of the same name, the band transforms its foundation into a genre-bending journey that fuses jazz, rock, and psychedelia. The music video release pairs with an album announcement, with their upcoming album Undercurrent expected to be released in November 2025.
Old Soul’s latest single, “Blue Bossa,” released July 15, 2025, was born organically in the group’s jam space, beginning with a chord sequence learned by guitarist Peter Rallis through a friend. The rest of the band quickly built around it, slowing the tempo, layering melodies, and eventually finding what they call “the magic pocket” after countless jam sessions.
“We never thought we would record a song based on a jazz standard,” the ‘60s & 70s-inspired rock group reflects, “but it just came to life naturally.”
Lead vocalist Loreta Triconi’s surreal, poetic lyrics add a dreamlike quality to the song, inviting listeners to step into a world untethered by reality. Lines like “I swallow a seed, it goes deep deep inside and I grow my roots into the sky” evoke transformation, liberation, and boundless growth.
The “Blue Bossa” music video debut visually channels the song’s magical realism - with direction and editing by bassist Joseph Bottaro and production by Other People Productions. Filmed between the willow-lined waterfront of Lachine (Montreal) and a stylized indoor set, the video depicts lead vocalist Loreta existing in two parallel worlds: one sunlit and inviting, the other shadowed and electric. As the story unfolds, these realities dissolve into one another, blurring the boundaries of perception.

More about Old Soul
Old Soul has been making magic together since the band’s formation in 2017. Consisting of Loreta Triconi (vocals), Peter Rallis (lead guitar), Joseph Bottaro (bass), and Ryan Palfalvi (drums), their groove has captivated the hearts of many in Montreal’s underground rock scene. Inspired by the psychedelic sounds of the 60’s and 70’s, they aim to capture the essence of rock and encapsulate it in their music. After years of cultivating their sound live, the independent band ventured to Planet Studios to record their original material. Their sound exhibits range as they move from hard-hitting tracks to softer ballads. The band’s passion comes through in everything they play and brings a familiar but refreshing angle to the modern rock landscape.
The energy between these four musicians can be felt in both their music and performances. Each member adds their own distinct elements, creating a culmination of mind, heart and soul in each tune. Off the cuff and wild, Old Soul is a true jam band that relishes in the freedom that live, improvised music offers. Loreta, Peter, Joseph and Ryan have a bond in both friendship and song. To experience their connection and understanding of each other is remarkable to behold.
