Sync Licensing
Evergreen licenses original music for film, television, advertising, and digital media.
We work with music supervisors and creative teams to place high-quality, sync-ready audio that generates recurring income for artists and songwriters.
Evergreen also runs songwriting camps to help artists develop their sound, generate demos for sync, and collaborate with other artists they would not normally have had the opportunity to. If this sounds like something you’re interested in, please reach out to Evergreen for more info.

“Writers and producers are encouraged to trust their instincts, move quickly, and avoid overthinking — a mindset that’s especially valuable when creating music for sync and publishing.”
DEFINING SYNC LICENSING
What is sync licensing?
Sync Licensing is the process of securing permission to use music within visual media projects such as films, television, commercials, trailers, video games, online content, and branded campaigns. Every sync placement requires the proper clearance of both the composition and the master recording.
What is a Composition?
A composition refers to the underlying song itself — including the lyrics, melody, and songwriting. A composition may be written by a single songwriter or multiple collaborators. Every sync placement requires approval for the composition rights before the music can legally be used.
What is a Publisher?
Publishers represent the rights associated with a composition. Depending on the song, there may be one publisher or several publishers involved. In order to fully clear a song for synchronization use, permission must be obtained from all rights holders connected to the composition.
What is a Master Recording?
The master recording is the official recorded version of a composition — the actual audio file listeners hear on streaming platforms, radio, or physical releases. Master rights are typically controlled by the record label or owner of the recording. If a project uses the original commercially released recording, both the master recording and the composition (publishing) must be licensed separately.
What is Media in sync?
Media refers to where and how the project will be distributed or viewed by audiences. This can include television, film, online advertising, social media, streaming platforms, video games, theatrical campaigns, and more. The intended media usage plays a major role in determining licensing scope and pricing.
What is a Territory in sync?
Territory defines the geographic regions where the project will be distributed or accessible. Licenses may be limited to a single city, province, country, or extended worldwide. Broader territories generally increase the overall licensing fee due to the expanded audience reach.
What is a Term in sync?
The term outlines the length of time the music will be licensed for use within the project. Terms can range from short promotional windows to multi-year agreements or perpetuity. The duration of usage directly impacts licensing costs and overall deal structure.
