Press Release - Theo Day Unveils Debut EP Homegrown - A Soulful Debut Rooted in Honesty and Heart
…For fans of Noah Kahan, Chris Stapleton, and Tyler Childers
Canadian singer-songwriter Theo Day makes a striking impression with Homegrown, a debut EP that captures what it means to find your footing, your truth, and your sense of home. Blending folk-pop intimacy with Americana grit, the seven-track project unfolds like a coming-of-age story - one told through the lens of resilience, heartbreak, and hope. You can listen to Homegrown now via this LINK.
“When I started making Homegrown, I wasn’t making an EP. I was just writing songs as a way to help myself cope with things that I couldn’t express to others. So I tried creating a world in my music where things feel just a little less heavy,” says Theo. Across the record, he reflects on the people, places, and choices that shape us, turning vulnerability into strength and reflection into song.
At the EP’s heart lies its powerful focus track, “Little White Lies.” Equal parts confession and catharsis, the song explores the quiet battle between truth and self-deception. With its soaring chorus, driving rhythm, and emotionally raw delivery, “Little White Lies” channels the same unfiltered sincerity that has defined artists like Noah Kahan and Chris Stapleton - positioning Theo Day as a voice ready to reach hearts far beyond his hometown roots.
“Little White Lies is a peek behind the curtain on the things that you feel inside but can’t express to others,” notes Theo Day.
Homegrown follows the momentum of Theo’s breakout debut single “Somewhere Shallow” (10,000+ first-week streams), a folk-pop meditation on slowing down and savouring life’s simple joys. Its follow-up, “Medicine Cabinet,” dives deeper, exploring human dependency with vulnerability and grace - earning steady rotation on CBC Radio Canada and SiriusXM.
The EP journeys through standout moments like “In My Veins” (feat. Bella Galasso), a haunting duet about emotional entanglement; “Old Milwaukee,” a raw reflection on nostalgia and escape; The EP ends with “Caravan Song,” a closing anthem of freedom and forward motion. Each track feels lived-in - cinematic in scope yet tenderly personal.
Produced by Brandon Barsoumian, mixed by Adam Boutin (DJ Apollo), and mastered by Nil Ister, Homegrown features songwriting credits like Bella Galasso, Simon Boyer (1STJN), with artwork and executive production by Damiano Pulcini. This EP is truly an Evergreen affair.
Homegrown is available on all streaming platforms today, October 29th, 2025. A debut that feels timeless and true - a collection of songs that meet listeners where they are, and remind them that growth, like home, starts from within.
Theo Day is celebrating the release of Homegrown with a release show at 8 pm on November 14th, 2025, at L’Escogriffe in Montreal, QC. Experience an intimate, unforgettable evening celebrating the next wave of indie-folk/pop from Montreal. Theo will be joined by openers Bella Galasso & 1STJN.
