Theo Day Turns Heartbreak Into a Festival Anthem on New Single "Oh, My Lanta!"

Montreal indie-folk artist Theo Day returns with his latest single, "Oh, My Lanta!", an anthemic folk-pop release that transforms heartbreak into something uplifting. Pairing infectious, guitar-driven production with deeply nostalgic storytelling, the song captures the emotional whiplash of unexpectedly seeing someone you never truly got over—the kind of person whose presence can instantly transport you back to a chapter of your life you thought had closed.

Equal parts reflective and exhilarating, Oh, My Lanta! explores longing, regret, and the people who continue to shape us long after they're gone. Rather than leaning into melancholy, Theo embraces contrast, delivering one of his biggest and most energetic songs to date.

Written alongside longtime collaborators Pops & Poolboy and Olivia Ridgely, the song was born from a writing session where Theo was processing a difficult personal moment.

"I wrote 'Oh, My Lanta!' because I knew everybody could relate to that one person in your life that your soul feels tied to in a way that doesn't escape you. Everybody has that one person that could just level you with their presence, and that's what she is to me. I just wanted people to relate to that helplessness."

The track was mixed by Dan Cinelli at Planet Studios and mastered by Nil Ister of Evergreen Music Company, resulting in a polished, expansive production that balances emotional intimacy with festival-ready energy.

While the lyrics revisit unresolved feelings and memories that refuse to fade, the production intentionally pushes in the opposite direction. Driving guitars, soaring melodies, and explosive choruses transform the song into an emotional release—one that invites listeners to sing every word rather than sit quietly with their sadness.

That live experience was central to the song's creation.

"It was one of those songs that just fell into my lap. I sat down one day feeling a little down about a situation, and I tried to make it more positive while staying true to my emotions, which created this interesting contrast of upbeat, exciting music with deep emotional lyrics."

Designed with festivals and packed venues in mind, Oh, My Lanta! feels equally at home blasting through speakers on a summer road trip as it does echoing across a crowd, with every lyric sung back. It's a record that embraces catharsis, proving that some of the most emotional songs can also be the most joyful to experience together.

The single continues Theo Day's remarkable run. In less than a year since releasing his debut music, the Montreal-based singer-songwriter has earned editorial support across Spotify, Amazon Music, Apple Music, and other major streaming platforms while building a catalog surpassing 300,000 global streams. His emotionally resonant songwriting and energetic live performances have quickly established him as one of Canada's emerging indie-folk voices.

Fans won't have to wait long to hear Oh, My Lanta! live. Theo will perform throughout the summer, including an appearance on the SiriusXM Stage at LASSO Festival on August 15, before returning to Petit Campus for his biggest hometown headline show yet on September 25.
