Theo Day releases his bold new single “Medicine Cabinet,” a deeply personal exploration of human dependency. Known for blending raw lyricism with emotive arrangements, Theo delivers his most vulnerable work yet - inviting listeners to reflect on the crutches we all carry, whether substances, habits, or routines.

Inspired by the realization that no matter how independent everyone believes they are, every single person on the planet is dependent on something. Theo crafted “Medicine Cabinet” as both confession and commentary. The title itself hints at the paradox of prescription medication - created to heal, yet capable of harm when one’s inner struggles remain unresolved.

“I love the contrast that prescriptions are meant to help you, but even something created for good can destroy lives if that person isn’t okay within themselves,” Theo notes.

Musically, “Medicine Cabinet” marks a turning point in Theo’s artistry. What began lightheartedly as a draft called “Coffee” evolved into an unflinching portrait of dependency, both subtle and severe. The track’s layered arrangement mirrors the complexity of the emotions behind it - warmth on the surface, tension underneath..

One of Theo’s favourite lyrics, “Tell me why the rivers warm only at the surface, smoking weed without a purpose, where did I go,” encapsulates this theme. He explains: “Things can often feel good from the surface but lack depth - like real happiness. Dependencies can feel calming at first, but eventually flip, becoming the very thing that fuels your anxiety. I wanted to capture that cycle.”

Following the success of his debut release Somewhere Shallow, released August 13th, 2025, which has since amassed more than 25K cross-platform streams, “Medicine Cabinet” shows a new side of Theo’s artistry. Fans can also expect more releases to follow “Medicine Cabinet,” including a debut EP slated for release in October of 2025.
